Mint of Finland has made a proposal to the Ministry of Finance for the minting of two commemorative two-euro coins in 2016: one in honour of Eino Leino and the other to commemorate Georg Henrik von Wright.

The planned mintages for both coins are one million pieces. The final decision on minting the coins lies with the Ministry of Finance. A commemorative coin can be obtained as change in regular circulation, or it can be purchased from the Mint of Finland online shop and from retailers.

Two-euro special coins are collectors' favourites, but also make for fantastic gifts. Each country using the euro as its currency is allowed to release two commemorative two-euro coins each year. These special coins are legal tender in all euro countries. The obverse of a special two-euro coin is identical to normal circulation pieces, while the national side of the coin bears the themed image.

Mint of Finland's website lists all commemorative two-euro coins released in Finland to date.

The coin design is a proposal to the Ministry of Finance.
